Coach Polizzotti begins his first season with Generals Lacrosse Club and as the Head Coach of the Westfield HS Bulldogs lacrosse program. As a player, Coach Polizzotti’s experience with lacrosse goes back to his youth in Long Valley, New Jersey where he played with the Long Valley Youth League starting approximately (33) years. At West Morris Central High School he was a (3) sport athlete; playing and lettering in football, hockey and lacrosse. In lacrosse specifically, he played varsity lettering all (4) years and started as a Varsity defenseman for (3) of those years. He was a team captain in his senior year for all (3) sports and was an integral part of leading the lacrosse team to play in the State Championship Game for the first time in school history and received several individual honors as a senior (including the team leadership award in all (3) sports).
Coach Polizzotti’s college lacrosse career began at Rutgers University and after taking some time off he transferred to and finished at Lynchburg College where he became a starting defenseman for (3) seasons and a team tri-captain, again receiving several individual honors (including the team leadership award). While at Lynchburg College, Phil obtained a B.A. in Business Management and graduated with honors (deans list) in May 1989. Prior to transferring to Lynchburg College in January of 1986, Coach Polizzotti began his lacrosse coaching career at his Alma Mater, West Morris Central High School in Chester, New Jersey as an assistant varsity lacrosse coach for two seasons, responsible primarily for all scouting functions and implementing the defensive schemes.
Upon moving to and getting settled into the DC area after college, Coach Polizzotti became an assistant lacrosse coach at Robinson Secondary School from the spring of 1991 through the 1999 season, assisting/helping guide Robinson to many district titles and (5) Region and Unofficial State Championships (1991, 1993, 1994, 1996 and 1998). During Head Coach Tom Tuft’s hiatus for medical reasons in 1996, Coach Polizzotti served as the interim head coach during that Championship Season and was named Patriot District COY. Then after taking the 2000 season off from coaching, Coach Polizzotti was offered the lead assistant position at Lake Braddock Secondary beginning with the spring of 2001 and following the 2005 season he decided to take some time off to pursue his business ventures. During which time he became a top HS official in the Northern VA area for two years, but the sidelines were calling so Coach Polizzotti found himself back on the sidelines at LBSS and now in 2011 has taken over as the Head Coach of the Westfield HS Bulldogs Lacrosse Program.
Throughout his lacrosse coaching career Coach Polizzotti has guided and helped mold numerous HS student athlete’s to become lacrosse All-District, All-Region and All-American selections, and more importantly helped them become successful at the next level (college) and beyond. He has participated in many off-season lacrosse activities including various lacrosse camps and clinics, and had been instrumental in putting together the Advantage Lacrosse NOVA programs. As a coach with the Advantage NOVA All-Star teams (both the A team and B teams) Coach Polizzotti had been tremendously successful in promoting the talents of Northern Virginia Lacrosse and its players, winning championships at several summer HS recruiting tournaments including the largest National Tournament (Champ Camp) of its kind in 2003.
In addition to his lacrosse coaching experience, beginning in 2004 and through the 2009 championship season, Coach Polizzotti served as an assistant varsity football coach with the LBSS Bruins football program and for the 2007 - 2009 seasons in addition to his assistant varsity football coaching duties he had taken on the added responsibility of the Head JV football coach. While not coaching, Coach Polizzotti spends his free time with his beautiful wife, Letitia, enjoying, working and promoting their successful business ventures and social networking.
Coach Ryan Richardson is in his first year with the Generals and formerly served as Varsity Head Coach for Broad Run High School in Ashburn, VA. During his two-year tenure, he was 16-16 overall with a regular season Dulles District Championship in 2010, losing to Dominion in the District Finals and making the Region II Tournament. In addition, over the past few years, he has worked numerous leagues, travel teams, and camps.
In 2008, Richardson was hired as a varsity assistant coach at West Springfield High School, where they finished as the Patriot District Champions in 2009, winning both regular season and tournament titles, and made the Northern Region Quarterfinals with an overall record of 14-4 and defensively averaged 5.2 goals against.
After finishing up his education for teaching in 2007, Richardson was an assistant coach at Centreville High School, working with the junior varsity team as defensive coordinator, teaching new and experienced players individual and team defensive concepts and fundamentals.
Coach Richardson got his coaching start in the 2002 season at the Virginia Episcopal School in Lynchburg, VA as an assistant coach, handling duties as defensive coordinator, scouting, and goalie coach. In that season, he helped turn around a 2001 6-7 team and went 15-7 and made the championship game against Bishop Ireton in the Virginia Invitational Lacrosse Tournament.
Coach Richardson graduated in Winter of 2002 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science at Lynchburg College, playing lacrosse there for one season and helped as a student coach for two seasons under current Head Coach Steve Koudelka, current Hobart head coach T.W. Johnson, and Haverford School (PA) assistant coach Mark Petrone, studying game and practice films and assisting with daily practice plans. After Lynchburg, he earned his second Bachelors of Arts in History and Secondary Social Studies in 2005 at the State University of New York at Cortland and Master of Arts degree in 2006 from SUNY-Cortland.
A native of Cortland, New York, he attended Homer Central High School, where he was a three-sport athlete, participating in cross-country, ice hockey, and lacrosse and earning All-District Honors in 1998. Richardson currently lives in Reston, VA and is a Secondary Social Studies teacher at Centreville High School.
